This painting was inspired by a visit to the Garden of the Gods Wilderness Trail in the Shawnee National Forest in southern Illinois. At the same time, it reminded me of many beautiful areas along the Mississippi River and the Driftless Region in Southwestern Wisconsin.

Karen Williams-Brusubardis The Intersection of Memory and Imagination Growing up in rural western Wisconsin, I spent most of my childhood exploring the woods of my parents' 20+ acres of land. I was an introverted, quiet and sensitive child with a love of exploring both the world around me and the world inside my mind.
