This painting was a commission with the request to use a phrase commonly credited to Saint Francis of Assisi, "Preach every day. If necessary, use words." Although there is no proof this was said by Saint Francis of Assisi, the words clearly represent how he lived his life. I chose to incorporate the words multiple times into the sky and the landscape, with the intention that the words are there, as a foundation. But, not necessarily obvious in order to let the actions of the painting speak for itself.
